AKA...Todd McFarlane doing Hulk!
And there was his layouts with Erik Larsen's artwork which was a totally kick-butt combo too. (you're not allowed to swear on here right?)
I was thinking maybe I would pick up volume 1 but nah, it's all about volume 2 for me...obviously there's Hulk vs. Wolverine but I always had the Hulk vs. Leader by McFarlane as a bigger favourite...the way he drew that brain was SO COOL.
Any other love for those books? (either the first and second Visionaries volumes or the original Hulk books?)

I actually grew up reading the David/McFarlane Hulk. I was never a huge fan of McFarlane(I don't hate his artwork, he just wasn't one of my favorites) but I don't think it would be exaggerating to say that Peter David did more to advance the Hulk than any other writer in the history of the title. He seemed to be the first writer to realize that a more intelligent Hulk meant more innovative and entertaining storytelling possibilities.

I think the Visionaries collections are a good idea, because all too often it's not until the innovative creative team has left the title and you're suffering through the procession of jobbers and hacks that follow them, that you appreciate how good the first guys were.

And by then all their back issues are sold out.

Not that that's ever happened to me...much.

They are a little expensive though.
I think a lot of the trades are though sadly.
I would hope for better print quality for the most part too.
Not on this particular book, just in general.
