My father was a newspaper cartoonist in the 1940s to 1960s. Not only did he do the daily/ weekly artwork for the newspaper, he also collected the cartoons from the early pioneers, Some of their work is before they became "famous". (A couple of pieces are over 100 years old.)

Now that I have all this artwork, I would like to find a way to sell it to those collectors. Ebay is so hit-or-miss. So far, I have not come up with any good ideas.

Any suggestions?

Moved this topic out of "Wanted to Buy" since it isn't a WTB type post.

Have you tried ComicLink or Heritage Auctions? If you don't want to do FEEbay, those are always an option (but carry fees too).

Heritage would definitely be the best place to go. They offer the best services and the largest auction audience for this type of art.

Thank you very much for the leads.

Is there one that you are more likely to check out to buy or sell?

How long does one put an item for sale there? What if it doesn't sell right away? How long do you wait before you put it back in?

Where would you recommend to have a piece appraised? When I had done research on some of these pieces, it is interesting to find out about the artists' career....

Contact Heritage:
http://www.ha.com/
or call them at: 1-800-872-6467

They will appraise the art for you and help you with all the listings that you need to make.

Cheers,
Jeff
