I started this book because of Ed Benes' art. I love the way he depicts the team. The writing is superb and keeps you interested. Other artists have worked on this book, but I believe Ed Benes to be the best.

What about you :?:

I really like Stephane Roux's art, but I think Ed Benes is really the definitive Birds of Prey artist.

I like Bene's art for the Birds. Super sexy.
However, Al Rio would be my vote!!! LOL!

Butch Guice should have made the list! By far one of the most talented artists working today and his stint on Birds of Prey produced some very beautiful art, some of which I own.:D

Yeah, I'd have to throw my vote for Butch Guice, too. One of the most overlooked talents in comics today.

To Sequential T: I looked up Mr. Guise's work on Birds of Prey on here and another site and it appears to me that he worked on the early issues of BOP. Perhaps, I overlooked him because I started with Ed Benes work and moved up from there. His work is good and he should have been included.

To Terry: I had to include Mr. Rio but I wish there were more than 1 example of his version of BOP.

To Soldier1941: I have seen some of your collection on CAF and it is impressive. Glad that you share with others.

I can understand that, Zenos. Of course, you did also list Greg Land, who was the first artist of the regular series and came even before Guice, so that's why I noted that Guice is (almost criminally) overlooked. Still, I liked his art on the series best. :)

Thanks. It comes from the original cover art to Heroes Reborn: Rebel #1, featuring the art of Matt Haley (who I just happen to art rep for ;) ), which I personally own. You can see it right here. Glad you like it.

Cool 2 votes for Butch Guice! Hooray!! :D

This all being said we of course should include Matt Haley too. His work on the first limited series is wonderful. The covers were by Gary Frank and they are beautiful in their own right. If you get the opportunity to read the series do, it's great. In my opinion Chuck Dixon was the best writer Birds of Prey ever had.

Cheers,
Jeff

Although I haven't read Birds of Prey, I have to agree with your opinion of Chuck Dixon. I thought that he was one of the best(if not the best) writers of the Punisher period(I'm not a fan of Garth Ennis' work on the Punisher or anything else for that matter). I loved his run on Punisher:War Zone with John Romita Jr. and his writing on the Punisher/Batman crossover(also with Romita Jr.).

Does anybody know what he's working on these days?

It has been announced that he will take over the writing on Dynamite Entertainment's series The Man with No Name based on the well-known western character. He is also currently writing a G.I. Joe series for IDW Publishing. In March, 2009 Moonstone Books published a new Airboy one-shot written by Dixon entitled Airboy 1942: The Best of Enemies.----Via Wikipedia

So has anyone been reading the new version of Birds of Prey?

There must be a new team dynamic if Hawk and Dove are on the team now. And did they kill off Oracle :?:

Oracle is still alive, but has been kidnapped by her former associates, Savant and Creote.

If this proves to be incorrect, feel free to blame Wikipedia since that's where I got my info.

I have my Birds of Prey only in Trade Paperback form. I don't have volume #1 when it is just Barbara (Oracle) and Dinah (Black Canary). For those of you who have read BOP, am I missing much?

I love Ed Benes' art. I think he's the best on BOP. This "Artgerm" guy is pretty cool on covers, has he ever done any interior work on a book?

Does anyone know how to search for volume 5 of Birds of Prey? I can not find it anywhere.
