I changed my Avatar, to be a visual representation of what I think about the DC reboot. Hope you get a  out of it.

It's as if the Joker is saying, "This is your idea...Who's gonna buy that laughing fish?"

Very funny avatar, Zenos! Sean and I keep meaning to update our avatar, but we've both been kinda busy lately.

To be honest, I don't really have a problem with the concept of a DC reboot. Freeing the characters from the metric ton of bad continuity that they're buried under and getting back to what made them popular and entertaining in the first place would be a splendid idea. Unfortunately, the reboot is being handled by the same people who screwed everything up in the first place, leading the cynic in me to suspect that DC will restart the characters at #1 and then bury them under another pile of bad ideas.

If you listen to Dan DiDio, he will even say that this "relaunch" has been something he's wanted to do for a while now... DiDio has no respect for fans (and reports from SDCC back this up), and the legacy of DC Comics... Hence restarting both Action and Detective Comics the two long published comic books at number one... If this was really about attracting "new" readers, then you would think that they would search out as many retail outlets as possible (IE: convenience stores, WalMart)... Plus I think one of the reason that Marvel is beating DC is because they are more socially relevant...

I truly believe this new number system won't last. I'll give it a year before they bring back the numbers in a new line of "classic" characters.
It will be more books they can publish.

I ordered a handful but haven't received my monthly shipment of books yet.
I've read good reviews so I'm hopeful.

I bought Batgirl and Hawk & Dove...

Batgirl was good... A plausible reason on why the Joker's bullet didn't paralyze Barbara... Unnamed roommate that looks like Cassandra Cain... Very interested in seeing where the villain "The Mirror" goes...

Hawk & Dove, wasn't terrible to read, but could have been better... What I would like to know is: How can Rob Liefeld be in the comics industry for 23years and never improved on his art style?!?

Can't wait to read Batwoman...

So sad to hear.
I was hoping one day he would mature into a great artist. :/

Loved Batwoman #1, it didn't disappoint one bit... It continued from where it left off in Detective Comics... Pretty much Kate is retraining Bette from the start, and even burned her Flamebird bird costume, and gave her the name "Plebe"...

Batman #1 was interesting, think I will see where it goes...

Birds Of Prey #1 was so-so, even with the Barbara Gordon cameo... I might pick the second issue, not sure yet...

Scott Snyder 's writing was good, I'll be getting the second issue for sure... In case you were wondering, Greg Capullo's art on was very good, I like the way he draws Batman...

I have read the first and fifth issue of Justice League and I'm not impressed with the story. I believe the story is overrated. The art is superb as expected from Jim Lee. I did not care for Darkseid's new look. Most of the DC heroes look mostly like the old versions....so not too hard to get used to seeing.

What do you think :?:

I don't know if this really counts as part of the reboot per se, but what does everybody think about the upcoming Watchmen prequels?

For those keeping score, Alan Moore disapproves. He says it's not about the money, it's about DC taking a concept that made the company special and turning it into something ordinary with prequels and sequels(TRANSLATION: It's about the money).

Dave Gibbons has given the project his blessing and wished the artists/writers well in their endeavor.

Thoughts anyone?

I really don't care that Alan Moore disapproved.
I love his writing and thing he's one of the all time best, but I prefer to see these characters explored more.

I'm excited for the series and looking for to it.

While I don't deny Alan Moore's talent and his contributions to the field, I have to say that I've never really been a big fan of his work. Aside from the first league of Extraordinary Gentlemen series and some of his Tom Strong stuff, I've generally found it difficult to get into most of his work.

That being said, I'm also pretty excited about the new Watchmen series especially the creative teams. Is there any news on release dates yet?

On Wednesday, June 6, DC Comics will publish the first of the highly anticipated BEFORE WATCHMEN comic book prequels. BEFORE WATCHMEN: MINUTEMEN, written and drawn by Darwyn Cooke, will be the first issue released the first Wednesday in June, followed in subsequent weeks by BEFORE WATCHMEN: SILK SPECTRE by Darwyn Cooke and Amanda Conner (June 13), BEFORE WATCHMEN: COMEDIAN by Brian Azzarello and J.G. Jones (June 20), and BEFORE WATCHMEN: NITE OWL by J. Michael Straczynski, Andy Kubert and Joe Kubert (June 27). The first issue of BEFORE WATCHMEN: RORSCHACH and BEFORE WATCHMEN: DR. MANHATTAN will be released later in the summer. All issues of the BEFORE WATCHMEN titles will be available same day digital and fans will have the option of buying a digital combo pack edition.

Every issue of BEFORE WATCHMEN will have a 1 in 25 variant cover drawn by a premier comic book artist: BEFORE WATCHMEN: MINUTEMEN #1 by Michael Golden, BEFORE WATCHMEN: SILK SPECTRE #1 by Dave Johnson, BEFORE WATCHMEN: COMEDIAN #1 by Eduardo Risso and BEFORE WATCHMEN: NITE OWL #1 by Kevin Nowlan.

Each of the BEFORE WATCHMEN first issues will feature a 1 in 200 variant cover by legendary artist and DC Entertainment Co-Publisher Jim Lee (JUSTICE LEAGUE).

I'm having a little trouble wrapping my mind around the continuity(JLA is supposed to take place 5 years ago?), but DC certainly seems to have passed Marvel in the art department.

Congrats on 1600 posts by the way!

Honestly, I wish that the DCnU would return to the way it was... I will admit, that I'm liking Earth 2 more than I thought I was going to...
