You know who they are. The comic book companies wish you'd forget them. They seemed like good ideas at the time (to somebody, I guess), but they're just really, really bad ideas.

F'rinstance:

THE BIG WHEEL He fought Spiderman in ASM #183. He was a guy in, well, a big wheel with a lot of weapons on it. Kind of a Swiss Army wheel....

THE KANGAROO Another Spiderman foe, hasn't appeared since ASM #126 (mercifully). We all know how dangerous people are that can jump really high. Especially when they look like a Saturday Night Fever extra on steroids. A bad idea, even for the '70s.

Just the tip of the iceberg! Top 'em if you can!

I think I just topped myself.

Try this on for size:

EDAM and GOUDA Two shabby aliens resembling the Hulk with a fishbowl on his head that hailed from the planet Chize(I'm not making this up!). Apparently Marvel felt that Iron Man didn't have enough villains named after lesser known dairy products.

They first appeared in Tales of Suspense#68(1965) but believe it or not, they appeared again in 2000 battling the Punisher who fights enemies almost this bad all the time anyway.

What's really mindblowing is that their second appearance (Maximum Security #1-Dec. 2000) was written by none other than Kurt Busiek! Marvel spends all of its time trying to attract top talent like Busiek and then decides his skills are best served working on a story about the Punisher fighting two very "cheesy" villains. Who was at that meeting?

MASTER PUPPET A honkin' big puppet that basically resembled a really ripped Howdy Doody. He was created by the Puppet Master (himself a bad idea) to protect the puppetverse(you heard me correctly).

He first appeared in Sensational She-Hulk#47(speaking of bad ideas...) in between her battles with the Carbon-Copy Men(I'll get back to you on that one...)

Next time he should team up with the rest of the Cirque de Soleil and really give Spidey a battle!

I never thought much of the Vulture. He's old, wears a dumb looking costume and can fly. That's about it. Look out for his new found power: Reflecting the sun off his bald melon!

Don't forget his power of cornering people and telling them all about his medical conditions.

know I'm totally going to get bashed for this, but I have a huge problem with Dr. Octopus from Spidermna, visually.
I love what they did with him in the movie, they updated him and turned him from being an amazingly fat man, in a tight, colour-clashing suit into someone who was believable and looked kick-ass.

Yeah, Doc Ock in spandex was never really a good idea. The Vulture could probably do with something less form-fitting as well, now that you mention it.

The Vulture might be a better villain than we're giving him credit for. After all, few things are more intimidating than a gangly old nut!
