I know I will see it. Hopefully you have seen a trailer or two by now. From what I've seen it looks great :!:

Uhh....Is that a good thing.....or a bad thing....?

(I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and assume that it's in the minus catagory)

I've *got* to go see this in the theater. This is one I've been dying to see.

Well it is a drawback. This is definetly not a kid's movie.

Good movie, very entertaining on an IMAX screen but could have done without the shot of Dr. Manhattan's butt on Mars.

Watchmen doesn't seem to faring that well at the box office. According to boxofficemojo.com it's made $136,718,829 worldwide(Domestic: $87,363,419 /Foreign: $49,355,410), which may seem good, but considering that its budget was $150 million and that the studio only receives 50-60% of the money(meaning they won't turn a profit unless the movie grosses over $300 million), it doesn't look promising.

So what happened? I haven't seen it, but everyone I've heard from seemed to think it was good. Was the budget just too big for the project? Is Alan Moore's work just not that accessible to the general public? None of the above?

Ideas anybody?

I'm going to go with the idea that Alan Moore's ideas just aren't that accessible to the general public. That and the fact that word got around about how they changed the ending.

It's just *the wrong time* for Watchmen.
People have *enough* drama in their lives already - with the stock market and stimulus and bad economy.
They'd much rather go see a hour and 10 minute romantic comedy than an almost 3 hour *drama*.
Personally - I may wait for the DVD to get the pleasure of *pausing* the movie at some point and stretching.

Those are both very good points. Personally it's not always easy for me to fit a 3-hour movie into my day. Unless it's something I really want to see in theatres, like the last Pirates of the Caribbean, I'm more likely to save the headache and wait for the DVD on something with that running time.

I rather enjoyed the film. I understand why the had to change the ending. The giant squid wouldn't have worked on the screen.

Can't wait for the DVD Black Freighter.

I put this one on my pull list at Blockbuster. Should be neat.
