I think this is a bad idea, and will turn out to be DC's version of Brand New Day... 52 number 1s is ridiculous... Plus there is Action Comics 1000, which is only 8years away... The only thing so far I like is Jim Lee on Justice League...

I applaud *any* effort to get more attention paid to comic books by the major publishers.
To do this they have hired a lot of writers, editors, pencillers, inkers, colorists and letterers. This is good.
That's why I'm hoping this promotion does well for them. That way they will keep hiring and spending money on artists!

To be honest, a reboot was probably inevitable given that DC has once again managed to write most(if not all) of their characters into corners. I think the success or faliure of the whole project rests on four points:
1. Is the art any good?
2. Is the art any good?
3. Are the stories entertaining or is it the same stupid writing that got you into this situation in the first place?
4. And finally, is the art any good?

Guess we'll have to see what September brings.

The thing is the reboot can either work for or against them... If you read a lot of the comments on Facebook, and I imagine Twitter, more people are against it than in favor of it...

Then there is the resigns of Superman, and Wonder Woman, both is are HORRIBLE... Jim Lee must be stopped...

I just hope that DC doesn't pretend that it's a popular decision, because it is so far from it...

With any popular media there will be people who think it sucks.
I'm not sorry to say I'm an optimist and look forward to changes as a good thing. If it doesn't work out - so be it. But I'm not dissing them for trying.

A lot of the dislike about it is the renumbering of series like Action Comics, and I asume Detective Comics which are nearing 1000 issues... Plus from what i understand Dick Grayson will be Nightwing, and more shocking Barbara Gordon will once again be Batgirl...

Plus there are other things like the Superman Earth 1 (I didn't read it), which was a huge sell for DC, and the upcoming Batman Earth 1, and the state of the multiverse...

When DC rebooted Superman they never restarted every Superman series at number 1, the fact they are doing 52 number 1s, is plan ridiculous... I have a friend who runs a comic book store, and hates ordering number 1s, because of the uncertainty factor to ordering them...

I worry about the local comic shop owners. We as a people are becoming too non-social. Now I do believe that people are prone to do more stupid things that they used to be, but I also believe that we have been culturally conditioned to rely too much on ourselves for advice, aid, and guidance in this age we live in. Children are being raised by Youtube and cable T.V. (as well as other things) and lack important social skills. This will only add more to the wound. Being able to download comics and not have to interact with others at a comic shop is robbery of one of the best experiences of being a comic fan--finding and talking to others who have some of the same interests as you do.

I worry that this does not bode well for our culture. I hope that I am wrong and that this is a boon to comics and to our culture as a whole. Wouldn't it be great IF it is comics that plays a hand in helping our society regain respect for our fellow humans.

I wish I could keep an open mind on this, but so far there is nothing good about this pr stunt of a "relaunch"... Dick Grayson back as Nightwing wearing black and RED?!? Barbara Gordon can walk again (after Didio said that would never happen) as Batgirl...

I was sharing that DC will reboot and make changes that we may not like. I like SUPERMAN as a married man...what better woman goes with him other than Lois?

Thanks zenos and the jim for the great lists!

While I'm not sure whether or not the launch is going to be a long-term success, DC is certainly bringing some real talent to the titles, and that's never a bad thing.

I'll probably take a look at Hawk & Dove if Rob Liefeld's drawing it. Ditto for JLA, of course. There's a number of other titles that might be interesting as well.

I wonder if Adam Hughes will do the covers for Cat Woman again? He has said in interviews that he had had more cover ideas when the series was canceled.

I'm actually a little curious, as primarily a Green Lantern fan. It seems that, despite Abin Sur being alive in this new reboot/relaunch, Earth still has all four of it's Green Lanterns, and DC's going ahead with its Red Lanterns title.

Looks like a lot of interesting titles and creative teams. Some of those are deifinitely worth checking out.

I'm gonna go with Frankenstein: Agent of Shade as first title cancelled.

Instead of revamping the whole universe why don't they just follow MARVEL and do something like the Ultimate MARVEL stuff?! That way there is no need to change the existing thing and thus the longtime fans will be happy as well. I just saw the September art, I really don't like the Superman's costume.

It may have something to do with the lawsuit.. they have to change the Superman's costume. It is inevitable and thus they wanted to change everything not just Superman. Sorry if I'm wrong.

Comic Book Resources took a online pole on what titles people were going to buy, and the results were surprising...

Me :?: I always liked the Kandor outfit from SUPERMAN:godfall

Or the Justice Lords outfit from Justice League (the animated series).

You're welcome.

Superman's new outfit.. he looks really awkward without the red shorts! Godfall outfit looks pretty epic.

A belated thanks to thejim for the link to the comicbook resources online pole.

It was an interesting article, although I doubt that the online pole results are particularly indicative of what the actual sales are going to be.
While I certainly think that JLA will be DC's hottest title(at least as long as Jim Lee is drawing it), I'm a little skeptical that Aquaman is really going to be one of their top 5 best selling titles(outselling the Bat books? Really?).

On the other hand, the poll's prediction that Sgt. Rock will be one of DC's poorest sellers is probably on target. To be fair, has anyone besides Joe Kubert ever cared about that book?

Thanks J... I did leave out one title though, just because I really don't count it as part of the "relaunch"...

Have y'all seen the "Relaunch Justice League" pic uploaded by Jim?

It looks like Jim Lee took inspiration from BATMAN: Arkham Assylum designs.

What do you think :?:

I think my veiws are clearly stated... Still Cyborg looks very odd standing next to DC's BIG 6...

Here is my proposel for a replacement title when a title gets cancels...

I think there are enough former Robins to warrent a Robin Corps title, lol... You can have Dick Grason in the Earth 2 Robin costume, Jason in the classic Robin costume, Tim and Stephanie in their Robin costumes... Plus just for kicks have Carrie Kelley join them, lol... Oh and Damian too, lol...

I wish, I was able to go to the San Diego Comic-Con :(

I read a good idea on Facebook, if DC wanted new readers, and keep their current readers, they should have created a DC version of Marvel Ulimate Universe…

I thought I heard once that DC was going to do their own version of MARVEL's "ultimate universe." They could have kept things as they are and then tried out all this new stuff in an alternate version and I think less people would be upset.

I thought that was the origional purpose of the All-Star line, but sadly nothing really became of that...

There is a poll in Newsarama to what you think of the "relaunch"

And the good news just keeps coming... Not only will Superman be single, but the Kents will be killed off... This "relaunch" is the worse idea EVER... The more I read of this abomination the more ticked off I get... Grant Morrison is rewiting Superman's origin (just because that's what world needs is another Superman origin story)...

Let's see... Clark's single.... The Kents are dead....

Yep, sounds like Morrison's work.

My DC spending has been cut down to 2 books tops... Batwoman, and maybe Batgirl... I do find it funny that Wonder Woman went from wear pants to waering shorts, lol...

This what I wrote on a group:
Quote:
DC wants new readers, but I bet you won't see one DC Comic in a conveience store in September... Heck, I look at the magazines at WalMart, and it's Archie and Marvel Comics, not one DC comic book...
