We begin this issue where the last one left off with the Doctor, Amy and Rory are in the past on the Borg cube that was in the battle of Wolf 359.  The Doctor’s companions are a bit shocked to discover that Captain Picard is onboard as a assimilated Borg known as Locutus.  The Doctor fills Amy and Rory about what he learned about this experience from Guinan and then the three get to work on getting the information that they need and depart before the Borg decide that they are a threat.  Once back on the Enterprise, we discover that even with the Borg modifications, the Enterprise wouldn’t catch up to the Cybermen in time so the Doctor recommends that they use the TARDIS which Captain Picard agrees to and plans are set in motion to get the mission underway.

After a few good moment with the Doctor barely trying to keep Amy and Rory off the mission and Riker asking Doctor Crusher to see if she could help his former friend who is now the Borg conduit and the Doctor and Worf debating the use of guns, the team head off in the TARDIS and land inside the Cyber-Ship.  Soon after they dock, the group is detected and the group split up into teams of Captain Picard, Data, the Conduit and the Doctor and the group of Worf, Amy, Rory and the rest of the security team.  As the two teams make their way through the ship they discover just how outnumbered they are.

When we left the crew of the Enterprise and the TARDIS, the Doctor has convinced Captain Picard to work with the Borg to fight the Cybermen. This issue starts with an away team consisting of Picard, the Doctor, Worf, Data, Commander Riker, Amy and Rory meeting with a small group of Borg propose a course of action to fight the Cybermen. Things get tense when Riker recognizes the main Borg who is called the Conduit between the Borg and the Federation as a former Starfleet Officer that had been assimilated. The Conduit merely states that he was being used because he is familiar to the Enterprise crew and the away team along with the Conduit depart to the Enterprise.

So, this story has been amazing and with issue #5 we get even more goodness.  This issue starts out right where the last issue left off with Captain Picard refusing to help the Borg who are getting demolished by the Cybermen.  The Doctor tries very hard to show Picard his perspective and what would happen if they don’t offer the Borg assistance against the Cybermen.  The Doctor follows Picard into his ready room where eventually Guinan joins the conversation.  The Doctor explains to Guinan what is going on and with Captain Picard’s approval, Guinan explains to the Doctor in an amazing black and white flashback why Picard has such a hatred for the Borg.  While the Doctor and Guinan continue to explain to the Captain Picard why not helping the Borg against the Cybermen would be for the betterment of the whole universe as well as other universes, Picard won’t hear of it and orders his ship back to Earth in order to help the planets that have suffered at the hands of the combined Borg/Cybermen armada.
