I wanted to let everyone know that the comics industry has lost one of it’s true nice guys with the passing of Dave Hoover last night.
I haven’t gotten details as yet. He’s had open heart surgery twice, but when I spent most of the weekend with him in Baltimore last month, he was in great shape and even better spirits.
Sorry for the bust-in, but I wanted to let people know.

It was an honor and a pleasure to have known Dave in the limited contact we had. He was a gentleman, a true talent, and the world is better to have known him. I am saddened this day and my heartfelt condolences go to his family. The skies outside with their clouds and rain reflect how many must feel. Rest in Peace, Dave.
Dave was one of the coolest teachers I’ve ever had and he will be missed. I wish his family the best in there loss.
I also felt very sad after hearing the news….One of the assets of comics artist has now been passed…may his soul rest in peace
I am very sad and heartbroken at the news of Dave’s passing. He was/is a truly great artist and and even better person! My brother and I had quite a lengthy conversation with him a couple of years ago at Wizard World Philly. I got a gorgeous Black Cat sketch! He will be missed.
